Hammers, hangers, corkscrews, wrenches, nails, screwdrivers, handsaws ... we use these tools to put things together, to take things apart, to build, to rebuild, to create and to destroy. We look to tools as vehicles to assist humans in our quest to create shelter and sometimes to attempt an abortion. In these pieces, the tools are rubbed into as well as printed directly onto the fabric so they present as actual scale. Tools are clustered and reimagined transforming into proxies for our actions, our fears, our inability to create viable solutions. Because begin human is fraught with chaos, inter-relationships that are crazy complicated, living on this planet is crazy complicated. These paintings are reflecting that chaos.
